Sporting Goods POS

Dimensional works with a lot of sporting goods stores, such as ski shops and bike shops.  These retailers have specialized needs, so we've created the Voyager system for them.

Voyager was created based on the feedback of our sporting goods clients.  Some of the features of this system include:

  • Inventory Management - categorize your inventory and then find out what you have in stock and how long you've had it
  • Matrix - create your apparel inventory items using our inventory matrix functionality.  Know at a glance which colours and sizes you have in stock and on order for each style.
  • Work Order - track labour and parts used.  Link to the original invoice if necessary
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) - know everything about your customers.  Use this information for marketing and customer service
  • Consignment Sales - Voyager has a complete consignment process.  Everything from receiving in product, labelling, sales, and consignor payment.
  • Rental processes - Complete rental systems for bikes, skis, kayaks, etc.
  • Gift Card/Specialty Card - Voyager can process numerous "card" type transactions such as Gift Cards, Pet Perks ( buy 10 get 10th one free), Pre paid transaction cards.
  • Loyalty programs - Track customer sales and reward customers with cash discount on future purchases.

Inventory Management

Sporting goods retailers usually have a lot of different types of inventory items.  Voyager lets you categorize your inventory items into:

  • Departments
  • Categories
  • Sub-Categories
  • Brands
  • Suppliers
  • Etc.

For example, if you're a kayak shop, you could split your inventory into four departments:

  1. Boats
  2. Accessories
  3. Rental
  4. Lessons

Once you've done this, you could run reports to determine which boats make you the most money, which accessories don't move, which rental packages are popular, and which lessons sell out.  This information will help you run your business more effectively.

You can also serialize these inventory items and track the items as you sell them, repair them, rent them, etc.

Inventory Matrix

Voyager lets you create matrix inventory items.  This lets you create an inventory item using a grid with attributes.

Apparel Matrix Inventory

Here we've created a pair of jeans that comes in different sizes and inseams.  If we were using a less powerful system, we'd have to create 50 separate inventory items to represent this inventory information.  Voyager lets us create these inventory items quickly and easily.

Special Order Processing

Specialty retailers, such as kayakstores, typically have a show room and stock only the fastest moving items.  All other goods are special ordered when they're needed.

Most of these inventory items are too complicated to stock every option.  For instance, here's an example: a custom table could have a large number of variables, such as finish, leg, top, stain, cushions, and fabric.

Vogue gives you the power to take these orders and process them from start to finish.  The Point of Sale module lets you create the orders.  The Purchase Order system then creates the P.O. based on the Special Order.  The Receiving System informs the Customer System of which customer order has been received and, finally, the POS module takes the final payments.

Vogue is a fully-integrated system, which allows you to track special orders throughout the entire order cycle.

The Special Order and the Purchase Order Systems are tied very closely together.  Information passes between these two modules, so you have all your information available when your customers inquire about their order.

Work Order

If you have a service department, you'll want to track work orders.  Voyager has a work order module to help you do this.

Work Order Module

When a customer brings an item into your shop for repair, your service department can create a work order.  They can even link it to the original invoice if the customer bought the item in your store.

They can add the parts they need and the labour costs to the work order.  The work order module is tied into the inventory control module and the point of sale module, so any inventory used is subtracted from the system automatically and the cashiers can collect payment.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Voyager has excellent CRM and direct marketing tools built in.  When you sell items in your store, you can capture customer information at the point of sale.

This information can include:

  • Name
  • Company Name
  • Bill To and Shipping Addresses
  • Email Address
  • Birthday
  • Phone Numbers
  • Customer Notes

Voyager also automatically tracks a lot of other information for you, such as customer history, gift card balances, etc.

Using this information, you can create direct marketing lists, such as direct mail labels and telemarketing lists.
