Email Marketing

Email Marketing is a cost-effective way to follow up with your customers.

Have your cashiers collect email addresses whenever they ring up a sale.  This is the best way to build up an email list.

Sell them on joining your email list.  Tell them that you have a monthly draw for a gift certificate in your store or some other prize.  Or tell them that the people on your email list are preferred customers and get invited to special sales and events.

You can enter the email addresses in your POS system if you have one.  Most POS systems, including Vogue and Voyager, have the ability to export email lists as files that the email services can read.  This makes updating your email lists easy.

When it comes time to start sending out emails, don't try to use Outlook or web mail.  These email servers are not set up for email marketing.  You will probably end up banned by your email provider and most of your emails will end up being marked as spam, just because the servers aren't set up for this.

Invest in a good email marketing service.  These services will let you manage your email lists, send out emails, and track the results.

Email marketing can be a great way to bring more customers back into your store, where they'll spend more money with you.  However, you have to spend the time collecting email address and creating emails to get the most out of it.
